Frequently Asked Questions
What spray tanning solution do you use?
I use Norvell Tanning solutions for all of my spray tan services. Norvell is rated #1 in the country for most natural-looking, anti-orange tans. It is also organic and cruelty-free.
In tanning solutions, what is the ingredient dihydroxyacetone (DHA)?
DHA is primarily derived from sugar beets and sugar cane. It is a simple carbohydrate, currently the only substance that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved to tan the skin, and it is the most commonly used ingredient in self-tanners.
What makeup products do you use?
I strive to use professional cosmetics that are held to the highest standards. A client’s makeup needs to be sweat, tear, and smudge-proof as well as camera-ready. I have personal preferences on cosmetics that I find most suitable for each type of occasion, but brands such as Tarte, Benefit, Thrive Causemetics, MAC, Nars, BeautyCounter, Urban Decay, Phoera, and Bobbi Brown are staples in my kit. I am also happy to apply any cosmetics that you personally own.
What should I expect on the day of the special event or wedding?
We will have discussed logistics during the initial consult or trial. If I am to be on location, I always arrive promptly and with sufficient time to park and set up. You should expect a calm, orderly makeup session.
What do I need to prepare for you on the day of the event?
Please make sure to designate a spot for me that has the best natural light, preferably near a window. It may be helpful to note how many electrical outlets are in range as well. This will help me plan or note ahead of time how many lights I can bring.
Do you do hair or know anyone who does?
I do minimal hairstyling and making sure that hair is in place for photos and video. I only offer curling or straightening of hair, and I also apply basic hair volumizing techniques, such as teasing and use of dry shampoo or sea salt spray. I maintain a list of hairstylists for those who require more than what I can offer—Please note that most of the hairstylists I suggest may require separate contracts.
Payment Questions
What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, check, Venmo, and all credit cards. *ALL CARD TRANSACTIONS OVER $200 REQUIRE A 3% PROCESSING FEE.
How do your subscriptions work?
Currently, I am only offering subscriptions for spray tans, with potentially more to come. When a subscription is purchased an auto-draft will be set up to charge every month. You will receive a code to be used when booking your appointment. With this plan, you will receive two spray tans for the cost of “buy 1, get 1 half off”. Tans can be gifted but must be used within that month. Tans are “use it” or “lose it” for each month.
Do you accept separate payments from bridesmaids?
No. As the bride, you pay all deposits and final balances, and it is your responsibility to garner payment from your bridal party. For gratuity, and day-of add-ons, like lashes, stylists can accept cash and Venmo payments.
What is the best way to handle gratuity?
As done for any salon service, it is suggested that you tip your artists at least 18-20% of your service fees for both trial and wedding day services. Cash or Venmo are accepted. For day-of services and cash tips, a separate envelope for each stylist is helpful and appreciated.
Do you travel, and if so, how far? What is the fee?
I am happy to travel, but traveling does require an additional fee. For every twenty miles, I charge $30. The travel fee accounts for my time spent on the road, as well as fuel and wear and tear on my vehicle. Suppose I am required to travel more than two hours one way, I may require hotel accommodations, in addition to the pre-existing traveling fee. I am willing to travel for long-distance destination events as long as my flights and other accommodations are covered.
Do you take a deposit?
Yes! We charge a 50% deposit at the time of purchase. You also have the option to pay in full which includes the deposit. Deposits are not refundable.
What is your cancellation policy?
If a cancellation must be made, the appointments must be canceled at least 24 hours before the time of service, all non-deposit payments will be refunded. If I am notified less than 24 hours prior, or the client is a no-show, no refund will be issued. I realize that life happens, but I have a business to run, and that booked time could have gone to someone else who wanted or needed it.
